It will have a hotel and dozens of one- and two-story residential units that are planned for a 4.15-acre site on the southeast corner of Michigan Avenue and Larch Street that was once the location of Brogan’s Tire Center and the Ballpark Mobil gas station, among other properties. It sits kitty-corner from Cooley Law School Stadium. Meijer will own and operate the market, expected to front Michigan Avenue, and has tentative plans to call the 37,000-square-foot store Capital City Market. The four-story, 150,590-square-foot building will also include a hotel with up to 124 rooms and a 9,000-square-foot lobby, bar, and restaurant. The project will include 300 parking spaces on the south side of the building.
